This small member of the dolphin family inhabits freshwater rivers of the Amazon and Orinoco Rivers, as well as near-shore marine environments of the Atlantic/Caribbean coasts of South and Central America. It inhabits similar habitat as the pink Amazon River dolphin (Boto).
